Wednesday, February 28, 2007 : Lunch at Tagaytay

Last Sunday, my mind was just set on hearing mass at Market! Market! (and secret agenda of buying maternity blouses sana!) then go home to prepare our lunch, Relyenong Bangus & Yang Chow fried rice.

Last minute, hubby was joking of going up to Tagaytay. I thought he was just joking...serious pala ang lolo :)
So, di na ko nagpakipot. The suppose-to-be lunch (that I was preparing na that morning), was sent back to the ref then packed our things na for the- not-so-thought-about gimik.

I packed my home-made choco chips cookies (baked last Saturday for merienda) & cooked rice. Good thing I still have disposable spoons kept so I just packed them nalang.

After the 9:30 mass, nag quick grocery lang for chips, drinks, ice & disposable plates. Bought the famous Inengs BBQ (na talaga namang malambot pa din kahit di na sya maiinit...yummy!) & Jezka's Jollibee Spaghetti.

Picnic Grove lang ang destination namin. Just enough (I thought) for a not so planned gimik (tsaka gutom na din kami). The last time I was there was 5 years ago pa yata...that time, Picnic Grove was OK pa.

I was disappointed to see na there are a lot of changes na. The place was not as good as it was before. Tsk-tsk!
Pero andun na kami so panindigan nalang. Paid 150 for the cottage & had a quick lunch. It was Jezka's first time to see the Tagaytay...enjoy naman sya. She wanted to ride the horse kaso baka mahulog pa so wag nalang.

Took some pictures...You might want to view them here. :)

We left din at 2pm. It was fun experience din naman...but next time, we'll plan our trips na din talaga.

Going back to the Relyenong Bangus & Yang Chow fried rice...na chi-cha na din sya ng dinner :)

Until next adventure? Hehehe

Thursday, February 22, 2007 : Great Expectations

Just sharing an article that I read from one of my egroups. This was written by a classmate in HS...truly very inspiring.

==================================
Great Expectations
August 4, 2006

Great expectations! Whose life are you living? Yours or one that others expect from you? It's astounding how things can twist in a snap of a finger? More than a year ago, I remember myself wildly chasing my dreams as if there's no tomorrow. Yearning to be the best that I can be, trying to bear out my worth to everybody and doing whatever it takes to be identified. Now as I watch my friends, as well as my foes, carry out what I was doing then, I can't help but smile and tell myself, "Its okay Kate, you'll be back on track soon".

I am happy, I couldn't be any happier. For the first time in my life, I can say publicly that I am living my life, loving, taking it all in, feeling and giving. For the first time, I don't have to rush and compete with everybody. For the first time, I'm taking it all slowly and surely. For the first time, I saw the simple side of me; the side that dreams to be married, to be a mother of a household, not the hot shot corporate lawyer that everybody foresees me to be. For the first time in my life, I am happy, truly and blissfully happy.

For years and years, I let my dreams and my ambitions rule over me. Everyday, I am fueled by this indistinct and unidentified force inside me to get up everyday, live other's expectations of me and be the best, so that they can be proud of me.

It was euphoric for a time. Then I got drained and deadbeat exhausted. One day, I woke up asking myself? Am I happy? Is this is what I really want? Am I living my life?

I had no answers. I felt empty; there was a deep void within me that needed to be filled. So I looked for answers within: What it is that I want to do? What will make me completely content and happy? Still, I had no answers.

As I think of it now, I know why. It's because all my life I was trying to be what other people wanted me to be. I was trying to appease the people who wanted to drag me down to their level so that I could surpass them. In doing so, I did not have the opportunity to reflect on what I in fact sought; what will, if truth were told, what will make me happy?

One thing I learned is that there is a time when you will have to be what other people expect you to be, not because you want to, but because you love them and you don't want to let them down. But we should also remember that we only live once. They had their chance to live their lives; it's our time to live ours.

I'm relieved that I served my time. I am happy I am now breathing and truly existing, happy and contented. Thank you to that person who taught me what life is. I hope you find yours too.

Thursday, February 15, 2007 : Sweetest Valentines

Yesterday was the sweetest valentines day we ever had. Hubby & I (even when we were still bf/gf) never really make a big deal out of Valentine's day. We usually celebrate V-day on my birthday which is 2 days before the heart's day.

After office, I rushed home at exactly 5:01 PM to avoid the expected V-day traffic.

From afar, I saw my daughter waiting for me outside the building. She was shouting "I've got surprise for you, mommy!" Hmmm...I wonder what's the surprise?

When we entered the house, she gave me this...

A personalized Valentine's Day card from my 4 year old daughter...in her own handwriting.

Check it out...

Isn't it sweet?!
